Following Recent Pender County Arrests
The Pender Sheriff Inmate Lookup is the official starting point. Think of it as a live roster. It shows current custody, not every person ever arrested in Pender County. The Sheriff's quick links contain no feed labeled recent bookings, daily arrests, or arrest log. Someone can sit in intake before any result appears. A release can pull a row off the list. A transfer can do the same, just as quietly. No Sheriff source promises a posting interval or a weekend and holiday schedule.
That gap makes your time window matter. "Booked today" asks about an intake event. "In custody today" asks who is still in the jail. The portal mainly answers the second question, though each row does carry an arrest date. For the same-day angle, the Arrested Today page lays out fallback options. The Arrest Reports page handles the wider blotter question. Neither one turns the roster into something it is not.
| Question | Best Pender source | Actual window and limit | Photo? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who is held now? | Sheriff Zuercher roster | Dynamic current custody; no fixed public roll-off term | Often, when returned |
| Who was arrested today? | Roster plus Jail Division verification | No distinct official 24-hour feed located | May appear after intake |
| Who was booked over several days? | Roster and a records request | “In Custody On” reaches back 30 days, but is not a 30-day booking archive | Record-specific |
| What happened later? | NC eCourts, Clerk, SAVAN, or the next custodian | Depends on release, transfer, court, or sentence | No general promise |
Pender County Arrest Search Date Limit
The portal caps its "In Custody On" date control at the prior 30 days. Treat that as a bounded custody-date filter rather than a 30-day history of everyone booked. A released person may no longer show up at all. A transfer can have the same effect. Pender County publishes no fixed web-retention period after release.
Arrested Last Night in Pender County?
Begin with the official roster. Search the name first. Narrow the date or agency after that. A blank result is not proof that no Pender County arrest happened. Intake, identity checks, classification, and data syncing can all precede web publication. The person may have bonded out before reaching the public view. They may have landed in another county. They may also have entered a police facility outside NC SAVAN's coverage.
For urgent custody questions, call Pender Jail Division at 910-259-1353 or the Sheriff's Office at 910-259-1212. Staff may limit what they share for legal, privacy, or safety reasons. Once someone sits in a covered jail system, the VINE Arrest Check applies. It can track release or transfer. It still does not replace a fresh roster check.
Pender County Custody Categories
Pender County Jail sits at 104 N Walker Street in Burgaw. Some sources call it the Pender County Detention Center. The Sheriff describes a 92-bed facility. It holds men and women under bond or awaiting trial. Others are under court order, serving sentences, or housed temporarily for the state. Those categories explain a puzzle. A "held for agency" entry can name an agency other than the Pender Sheriff. They also explain why the roster should never be mistaken for the NC state-prison list.
Search the Pender County Jail Roster
The roster's public controls and output are specific enough to guide a careful search.
| Roster field | How to use or read it |
|---|---|
| Name | Best first search; try a reasonable name variation if needed. |
| Race and sex | Narrow multiple matches only when the details are known. |
| In Custody On | Checks custody on a chosen date within the configured prior 30 days; it does not mean booked on that date. |
| Held For Agency | Identifies the agency for which the jail holds the person, not always the arresting agency. |
| Result row | May show mugshot, name, race, sex, birth date, arrest date, agency, hold reason, and bond information. |
Use the roster in four short steps:
- Open the inmate route and search the person’s name.
- Narrow only with known facts, then read the arrest date and held-for agency.
- Expand the hold reason and bond detail without treating either as a court finding.
- If the row is gone, move to the court record, SAVAN, or a formal records request.
The current portal may render an inline booking image. When none is returned, a placeholder appears instead. No official source gives a fixed update cadence or promises how long a released row stays online. The official inmate lookup below shows the source interface used for current custody.
Read the controls as custody filters, especially where the date field says "In Custody On."
Pender County Booking App Limits
Pender's My Pender app handles general county information. Pender County EM, also called myEMA, sends emergency alerts. Neither is described as an inmate roster or booking-photo app. The official links list no separate Sheriff or jail booking app.
Pender County Arrest News Is Selective
Arrest information in Pender County travels through several channels. Only the originating government and court sources can establish current official status. News reports are selective. Private archive pages may copy an older booking after the official current-custody row has changed.
| Channel | Photo? | Status | Best use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sheriff inmate lookup | Often | Official | Current Pender jail custody |
| Pender NextRequest | Request-specific | Official | Ask for a named booking or photo record |
| NC eCourts | No photo focus | Official | Case events and disposition |
| WWAY, Post & Voice, StarNews | Sometimes | Selective news | Article-level reports, not a complete blotter |
| BustedNewspaper, RecentlyBooked | Often | Unofficial | Discovery only; may lag or retain stale copies |
| Mugshots.com, Arrests.org, Mugshots.zone | Often | Unofficial | Historical leads that require official and court verification |
Does a local news story prove the complete arrest record? No. Pender-Topsail Post & Voice, StarNews, WWAY, and Port City Daily each report selected cases. An agency release often sparks a story. Silence from the news says nothing conclusive. It cannot prove whether someone was booked.
Recent Arrests by Pender County City
City names tell you where an event occurred. The jail record, though, is county based. Each local guide accounts for the real agency and booking route.
- Surf City Recent Arrests: Surf City Police and the Sheriff serve the Pender side; an Onslow-side arrest may never enter Pender’s roster.
- Burgaw Recent Arrests: Burgaw Police and the Sheriff make arrests, with Pender County Jail as the local booking destination.
- St. Helena Recent Arrests: no separate village police roster was found, so the documented countywide path leads through the Sheriff.
The county Fact Book's 2023 ACS five-year series ranks Surf City, Burgaw, and the Village of St. Helena as the three largest incorporated places used here. Surf City's cross-county boundary is a custody issue, not just a map detail.
Reading a Pender County Arrest Record
A roster row is a compact custody record. It holds neither the full police file nor the final court outcome. Read each field in its own time and agency context.
| Field | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Name and birth date | Identity details used to separate people with similar names. |
| Arrest date | The date recorded for the arrest event, not the date of conviction. |
| Race and sex | Descriptors in the custody system; verify identity with more than one field. |
| Held for agency | The agency associated with the jail hold, which may differ from the arresting agency. |
| Hold reason or charge | The charge or legal basis recorded at that stage. |
| Bond | The setting shown at the time, such as secured or no bond; it is not a release clock. |
| Booking photo | An identification image when the portal returns one, not proof of conduct. |
| Disposition | Not shown in the observed roster; check eCourts or the Clerk. |
Pender County Bond Records
Bond information trips people up more than any other field. A stated amount says nothing about when money was posted. It does not reveal a second hold. Nor does it show changed terms or pending jail processing. Only the current custodian can confirm present release status. Treat the displayed bond as context, not a release clock.
Pender County Mugshot Policy Differences
The Sheriff’s roster shows a mugshot column. When a record includes a photo, it appears inline. Sometimes a placeholder shows up instead. Pender County does not promise a public image for every arrest, nor a set length of time an image stays online. No booking-photo gallery is hosted here. The source interface is where the record lives, and the boundary around it matters.
North Carolina law frames the question. G.S. 15A-502 authorizes photographs and fingerprints in defined arrest and detention situations, and G.S. 132-1.4 treats photographs as criminal investigation records while making listed arrest facts public. Neither statute creates an automatic online-photo rule. A requester can still ask for a specific booking photo and ask the Sheriff to state the legal basis for any redaction or denial.
State prison records sit elsewhere. NC DAC runs an offender search covering prison, probation, parole, and historic state records, but county jail bookings are outside it. That search is text and status driven, and DAC policy makes no promise of public photos. A stale image on some private site is therefore neither a current Sheriff record nor a DAC one.
The official Jail Division page describes the county facility behind the roster.
The facility description helps separate local jail custody from state correctional custody in Burgaw.
Request a Pender County Arrest Record
Pender County’s NextRequest portal is the formal route when a roster row is missing, a person has scrolled off the current view, or a specific agency-held item is needed. The county posts no separate booking-photo fee. It lists no guaranteed response time. State law generally allows actual-cost copy charges, and investigation or confidentiality rules can shape what gets released.
- Open Pender County NextRequest and choose “Make Request.”
- Name the person and give the approximate booking date, agency, and booking number if known.
- Describe the exact item, such as the commitment record, charge and bond entry, release or transfer record, or booking photograph.
- Ask for the amount of any copy charge before fulfillment and request the statutory basis for any withholding or redaction.
- Use the Sheriff at 910-259-1212 or Jail Division at 910-259-1353 for routing questions, then keep the written request and response together.
The Pender public-records portal capture shows the county’s formal request entry point.
The portal itself does not promise that a requested booking photo can be released, or that it comes free.
Pender County Public Arrest Records Law
Under G.S. 132-1.4, defined arrest details are public: the time, date, location, and nature of a reported violation, identifying facts about the person arrested, charged, or indicted, and the circumstances of the arrest. Much else stays closed. Investigative records, sealed material, protected victim facts, and medical details can all be withheld or redacted.
The official G.S. 132-1.4 page sets out the arrest-information and investigation-record boundary.
Read the statute against the facts of your request. It is no promise that every file or image sits online.
Web visibility and retention are different things. The State Archives sheriff schedule makes that split clear. Someone released from custody may vanish from Zuercher, yet the arrest report, detention record, commitment, or release report still exists under another record series. Old Pender newspaper material also survives on microfilm and in digital collections. That archive is historical, not a live jail record.
Pender County Arrest Visibility Limits
Juveniles are switched off in Pender’s public Zuercher setup. NC SAVAN leaves them out too. It also skips police-precinct custody, mental-health facilities, and anyone who bonds at the magistrate level without a jail booking. A missing result often means a different custody path. No private copy should ever fill the gap for a youth or sealed record.
Pender County Warrant Verification
Pender County publishes no countywide warrant-search portal. There is no “Most Wanted” page and no Wanted Wednesday roster either. The Sheriff’s Zuercher “Submit a Tip” route is a contact channel. Crime Mapping is not a warrant check either. Anyone facing a possible warrant should call an attorney or the issuing court. The Pender Clerk can be reached at 910-663-3900. Magistrates answer at 910-259-1215, and the Sheriff at 910-259-1212. The official Zuercher portal includes the Sheriff’s tip entry point.
For immediate danger call 911. Never approach a wanted person or attempt an apprehension.
The tip option must not be mistaken for a searchable wanted-person list.
Pender County Arrest Record Limits
The Clerk can search and certify Pender County criminal records through an electronic index reaching from July 1989 to the present. Its $25 in-person or mail local check stays county-wide only. It is not a live warrant confirmation. Statewide searches require a different route.
Pender County Arrests Move to eCourts
A Pender case travels from arrest and booking to first appearance, bond decisions, court calendars, and a later disposition. Pender joined eCourts in February 2025. The official NC eCourts Portal supplies case access. The Judicial Branch calendar site posts scheduled criminal dates. The Pender Clerk’s own search stays limited to county matters, and records before July 1989 may sit in index books or microfilm.
| Status | What it means | Where to look next |
|---|---|---|
| Just booked | Intake may still be underway | Jail Division, then the roster |
| In custody | Currently shown in Pender jail | Zuercher and SAVAN |
| Released or transferred | No longer in the same custody state | SAVAN, records request, and eCourts |
| Sentenced or supervised by NC | State prison, probation, or parole may apply | NC DAC offender search |
| Disposed | The court recorded an outcome | eCourts or Pender Clerk |
Why can the roster and court page disagree? They answer different questions. The roster tracks custody now, while the court file shows amended charges, dismissal, plea, acquittal, or sentence.
Custody Beyond the Pender County Jail
Custody questions reach past the Pender County Jail. That happens once a person moves into state or federal hands. The NC DAC Offender Public Information Search handles state prisoners, probationers, and parolees. It also covers state records going back to 1972. It says nothing about county jails. Pender Correctional Institution sits at 906 Penderlea Highway in Burgaw. It belongs to the state system, so do not confuse it with the county jail.
Federal custody runs on its own tracks. The Bureau of Prisons locator finds federal inmates from 1982 forward by name or register number. It shows no booking photo. ICE's detainee locator takes an A-number or details like full name, country of birth, and birth date. It also lacks a photo field. A hit in either system points to a federal case, not a Pender County arrest by itself. NC SAVAN, meanwhile, tracks North Carolina jails and Adult Correction custody. It skips BOP, police facilities, juveniles, and anyone who bonds out at the magistrate before booking. A blank result only means you asked the wrong custodian. Follow the arrest to whichever office actually holds the person.
Pender County Jail Project Context
Pender County budget papers call the current jail a 1970s facility with a 2001 addition. They also lay out a new Law Enforcement Center and Detention Center on Old Savannah Road. Groundbreaking is eyed for fall 2026 under the present budget discussion. The project is real local news. It is not an arrest feed.
Nothing about the build changes the Zuercher roster, the intake-to-posting delay, photo display, or records requests. The live Sheriff portal and the published Jail Division contacts remain the working routes. That holds until the county announces a system or contact change. Treat any future address, opening date, or portal shift as rumor. A current county notice should confirm any change.
Correcting Old Pender County Records
Fixing an old Pender County record starts with the office that owns it. A court expunction is filed in the county where the charge arose. Eligibility turns on the statute and the case result. North Carolina Courts posts a general $175 filing fee, with exceptions for some dismissals and not-guilty outcomes. Processing can take months. The court's current forms and local instructions control the details.
An expunction does not wipe copies held by private publishers or search engines. Once the official record changes, save the old page URL and proof. Then use the publisher's documented free correction process. File an outdated-result request if a search engine still shows the removed content. BustedNewspaper, RecentlyBooked, Mugshots.com, and Mugshots.zone each publish free correction or removal policies for specified outcomes. Those are private policies, not court relief. Arrests.org offers a contact route but no Pender-specific free form.
Note: Never pay a stranger who promises to alter a Sheriff or court file.
No paid-removal service belongs in this plan. The official source, the court order, and the private copy are three separate records. Each takes its own follow-up.
Pender County Arrest Record Fees
Fees follow the record, not the county. The Clerk's county-only criminal check runs $25. Surf City gives out police report copies free under ten pages, then charges $0.50 per page. NextRequest lists no Pender booking-photo price. None of these sets a countywide mugshot fee, so ask the office that holds the record you want.
